Ayo Olanrewaju B.A., (Hons.), LL.B. (Hons.), BL.

AYO OLANREWAJU is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief and the Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Weekly Law Reports (NWLR). He obtained his first degree in English, a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Ilorin in 1982. After a year of national service, he proceeded to the University of Ibadan where he bagged the LL. B (Hons.) degree in 1986.

 

On being called to the Bar in October 1987, he started his professional career in GANI FAWEHINMI CHAMBERS. He also doubled as a member of the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Law Publications Ltd. publishers of Law Books including the Supreme Court of Nigeria Law Reports (SCNLR) and the Nigerian Weekly Law Reports (NWLR). He rose to become Deputy Head of the Chambers, a position he held until January 1995 when he left to set up the law firm of AYO OLANREWAJU & CO.

 

Meanwhile, he continued with the Nigerian Law Publications where he rose through the ranks and in 1998 he was made the Editor of the Nigerian Weekly Law Reports (NWLR). He was in that office until January 2008 when he was elevated to Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Before then, he was Deputy Editor & Editorial Secretary, Commercial Law Reports Quarterly (1989); Deputy Editor, Human Rights Law Reports of Africa (1998); Editor, Nigerian Constitutional Law Reports  (2000)

 

AYO OLANREWAJU is an author of many books one of which is The Bar and The Bench in Defence of Rule of Law in Nigeria (1992). He co-ordinated and edited several other works including Justice Eso, Supreme Court Years, 1978 – 1990 (1990); Justice Obaseki, Supreme Court Years, 1978 – 1991 (1991); Judicial Footprints, Oputa – His Notable Pronouncements (2002); Commentaries from the Bench Pts. I- IV by Hon. Justice Moronkeji Onalaja (2003) and Uwais Through the Supreme Court Cases (2006).

Ayo practices law, and has handled many cases in the High Courts, Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
